Counselling Approach
As a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor my main training is in Person Centred, Gestalt and Existential therapies, with the integration of other approaches such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Family Systems, Inner Child work and Attachment Theory.
I use a combination of approaches and techniques in order to make the experience the best one it can be for each person. I offer talk therapy on its own or blended with other supportive therapies if appropriate and if it feels right for you.
Supportive therapies include stone therapy, nature therapy, writing therapy, visualisation, energy therapy, art, music, reflection. These techniques can assist in understanding what’s happening for you.

I appreciate that it can be a big decision, and for some a scary one, to attend counselling. Trusting your Counsellor is an essential component. It’s not easy to open up about aspects of our lives, especially if shame and/or silence is part of our experience. My approach is very much about going at your pace with a lot of emphasis on self-care. We have regular check-ins to see how you are experiencing counselling.
Prefessional Services
I offer a choice of in-person, telephone or online counselling for adults.
In-person counselling takes place in both Tralee and Listowel. I offer evening appointments and Saturday appointments.
Online and Telephone Counselling can take place from the comfort and convenience of your own home.
Sessions last one hour and generally occur at the same time each week. The number of sessions required depends on your unique situation and will be your choice. Sometimes one or two sessions will suffice. I usually recommend starting with 6 – 8 weekly sessions and during that time we can review and see what is best for you.
The first session is usually offered as soon as possible after the initial contact and is an opportunity for us to meet one another either in person or otherwise. Together we can explore what brings you to counselling, your needs, hopes and supports. Most importantly, we can discuss any questions you may have about counselling itself.
We can discuss fees, number of sessions, confidentiality and limits to confidentiality. It is a chance for you to decide if counselling is right for you. At the end of that initial appointment, we can agree the next step.
Fees
I offer a range of fees including low cost counselling. Feel free to contact me to discuss this.
- Fees are between €50 and €60
- Low Cost Counselling: This is available for a limited number of people – for example pensioners, students, people on low income or with high outgoings. When those appointments are full, a waiting list is available.
Fees are payable on the day. Cancellation fees apply in certain circumstances.
Location and Accessibility
I offer counselling services in both Tralee and Listowel to people from all parts of Kerry and Ireland. The building in Listowel is accessible for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues
Telephone and online counselling means that you can receive support from the comfort of your own home.
Covid 19
Mitigating measures have been employed to prevent the transmission of Covid-19. We can discuss your needs around this prior to the first session.
